CHILDCARE SPECIALIST: Pay: $12.72/hour; Hours: 10-15 hours/week; REF #3235155
We are a unique respite care center for children ages 3-18 with developmental disabilities. We provide a safe, fun environment for children with disabilities where parents are confident in our care. While in our care, children participate in various field trips, play, laugh, and receive specialized care as needed (e.g. g-tube feedings, meds, diaper changes, etc.). In essence, you get paid to play with kids. As a Childcare Specialist you will be responsible for child care and parent involvement; and other duties as assigned. Child Care
- Assure a safe and stimulating environment where each child’s needs are consistently met.
- Know and understand each child’s individual needs in order to engage children in various activities.
- Basic understanding of various developmental disabilities .
- Communicate with staff in a friendly and professional manner.
- Communicate with parents about children’s daily activities and behaviors.
- Write incident reports (as needed).
- Communicate concerns of children to the Executive Director.
- Assist with toileting of children (i.e. remind children to use restroom, change diapers).
- Assist with daily chores (trash, cooking, cleaning, general pick up, other chores as needed).
- Daily charting of children’s activities, behaviors, toileting, and medications.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- Foster open communication and teamwork that focuses on success as a product of the entire team and the Megan’s Place organization.
- CPR, First Aid, and Universal Precautions certified.
- Attend additional training as required.
Qualifications
- Experience that reflects the depth and scope of the above description.
- Experience with children with developmental disabilities
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Available full time with flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; in person and via phone.
- Skilled team member who is adaptable and flexible.
- Demonstrated high level of professional integrity.
- Must successfully pass a thorough background check.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
Pay: $12.72/hour
