Patrick J. Deneen is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame and a well-known political writer. His widely acclaimed book Why Liberalism Failed has been translated into over 20 languages and praised by former President Obama and conservatives because it highlights the shortcomings of modern political liberalism and the crisis of American democracy. He is also the author of Regime Change: Toward a Postliberal Future and Conserving America? Thoughts on Present Discontents. This year, he is a visiting scholar of conservative thought at CU Boulder. We are glad to have him on our campus.
About Patrick J. Deneen
Patrick J. Deneen holds a B.A. in English literature and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Rutgers University. From 1995-1997 he was Speechwriter and Special Advisor to the Director of the United States Information Agency. From 1997-2005 he was Assistant Professor of Government at Princeton University. From 2005-2012 he was Tsakopoulos-Kounalakis Associate Professor of Government at Georgetown University, before joining the faculty of Notre Dame in Fall 2012. He is the author and editor of several books and numerous articles and reviews and has delivered invited lectures around the world.
