Reformation Tour

Colorado Christian University Reformation Tour

Coming in the Fall of 2020

We invite you to join us for the trip of a lifetime—for this enriching spiritual heritage tour of the Reformation. This is travel with a purpose—an opportunity to grow deeper as disciples of Jesus, to better understand who we are as Christians, and to build deeper friendships with others. Together we will walk in the footsteps of past generations of believers such as Martin Luther, Johann Sebastian Bach, Ulrich Zwingli, John Calvin, and others as we embark on a journey from Berlin to Geneva.
Why the Reformation?

Why care about an event from more than 500 years ago? Simple - because we can’t afford to forget the lessons of the past, and because the Reformation story is actually the story of church history. In short, the church was formed; the church easily becomes deformed; the church must either become re-formed by the gospel and the Scriptures, or it will die. The Reformation was about giants like Luther, Calvin, and others, but it was more than that. It is about the gospel. It is not a call to live in the 16 th century, but a call to return to the sources ( ad fontes) of Christ, the gospel, and the Bible.

There is something about educational travel that is riveting. It takes us deeper than books and lectures (as much as we need both), for it marries knowledge with the five senses. On this trip we will visit many history-shaping sites, walking where the reformers walked, while retelling their stories. We will travel from Berlin to Wittenberg to Erfurt, Eisenach, Mainz, Worms, Strasbourg, Zurich to Geneva. We will also see World War II sights in Berlin and enjoy the beauty of the Swiss Alps.

We will draw on the expertise of not only of tour guides, but of CCU professors, and Dr. Sweeting’s own background from his years of teaching church history.
