News: Renowned Broadcaster at CCU

CCU Hosts World Renowned Broadcaster and Evangelist Dr. Billy Kim

In a brief and poignant message, world renowned broadcaster and evangelist, Dr. Billy Kim, addressed the student body at Colorado Christian University (CCU) on Friday, October 5, 2006. Highlighting escalating social and moral ills, and the need to bring America back to its original focus on God, he stated, "No other nation has been so blessed by God Almighty as America has been -- I don't want you to forget that." Dr. Kim challenged the incoming generation of American Christian leaders to be thankful for their many blessings, to pray for the future of their country, and to seek to bless the worldwide community in Jesus' name.

Regarded as one of the most influential Christian leaders in the world, Dr. Kim is Senior Pastor Emeritus of Suwon Central Baptist Church, a congregation of 18,000 members based near Seoul, South Korea. He is also the president of the Far East Broadcasting Company of Korea, and recently finished a five-year term as president of Baptist World Alliance.

Dr. Kim was accompanied by the Korean Children's Orchestra and Choir. The 68-member choir is comprised of children ages 8-13, and practices at Suwon Central Baptist Church. The children's age belied their talent, as they performed wonderfully choreographed, mixed Korean/English choral arrangements, as well as crisp, resonant instrumental pieces featuring solos for violin, that had the CCU campus on its feet in applause.

"Dr. Billy Kim is one of the greatest Christian leaders in the world today. He is a man of extraordinary vision. His faithful testimony and service to our Lord have been an inspiration to millions of people around the world. CCU is very honored to have Dr. Kim come to speak to our students," commented CCU President Bill Armstrong.

The visit by Dr. Kim and the Korean Children's Orchestra and Choir was made possible in part by Global Connection International (GCI) of Denver as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of GCI President Jim Groen and his wife, Dotti. Jim and Dr. Kim have worked together on many projects around the world, and Jim has visited the Korean Peninsula over 75 times, including several trips to North Korea.
