CCU and Peterson Air Force Base Work Together to Develop Leaders

On Tuesday, May 29, 2007, Colorado Christian University will formally recognize the first eleven graduates from the on-base extension of its Project Management Certificate Program at Peterson Air Force Base (PAFB). A reception will be held from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at the PAFB Education Office.

Students receiving the certificate will include Michael Blakely, David Brown, Ronnie Godley, Steven Henry, Janice Miller, Stephen Perry, Joseph Platt, Terrence Rich, Ben Seidl, Myron Ventura, and Susan Zaporzan.

"I thoroughly enjoyed earning my certificate through CCU," stated Zaporzan. "I was challenged and learned many of the intricacies related to project management--all of which will help me in the future."

During the fall of 2006, CCU was competitively selected to become an on-base provider of Organizational Management bachelor's degree programs at PAFB, with specific emphasis in project management and human resources. As part of the project management emphasis, CCU offers its Project Management Certificate which can be earned alone or in conjunction with a CCU degree. The certificate can be completed via a series of four five-week courses.

The CCU Project Management Certificate Program has been reviewed and approved by the Project Management Institute (PMI)®. A pioneer and current standard in the field of project management, PMI's membership of over 200,000 professionals represents 125 countries and virtually every major industry. The CCU Project Management Certificate Program teaches applied basic and advanced project management techniques, using real-life business projects for practice. Social and ethical implications are integrated throughout each exercise to develop leadership skills relevant to today's business environment. The program not only enhances students' marketability, but also prepares them to pursue PMI's rigorous Project Management Professional (PMP®) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) accreditation.

CCU's degree and certificate programs offered at PAFB and are available to all active duty, guard and reserve, and retired U.S. military personnel, their adult dependents, and Department of Defense civilians and contractors.

"These on-base offerings are a great example of CCU's proactive and progressive attitude toward education," commented Susan Wilson, a chief administrator in PAFB's Education and Human Resources Offices. "I look forward to our continued partnership in working to meet the growing and changing educational needs of students today."
