CCU's Centennial Institute Names Musgrave, Hillman, and Moloney Among List of New Fellows

Twelve Coloradans have been named fellows of Colorado Christian University's Centennial Institute, the University announced today. Bringing a veteran balance of political, business, education, and ministry credentials to the table, the fellows will publish, speak, and serve as a policy advisory board to assist CCU's newly formed think tank with research and analysis of major public issues. The fellows will also on occasion guest lecture in CCU classes and advise in internship programs.
Centennial Institute fellows for the current year include:

Hon. Marilyn Musgrave, former congressman

Hon. Mark Hillman, former state treasurer and senate majority leader

Hon. William Moloney, former Colorado education commissioner

Dr. Paul Prentice, economist, University of Colorado-Colorado Springs

Dr. Vincent McGuire, political scientist, University of Colorado-Boulder

Ms. Krista Kafer, education consultant, formerly with the Heritage Foundation

Dr. Alan Crippen, Executive Director, John Jay Institute

Dr. Douglas Groothuis, author and professor, Denver Seminary

Dr. Jerry Nelson, Senior Pastor, Southern Gables Church

Mr. Kevin Miller, entrepreneur, former dean of business programs at CCU

Dr. Charles King, Dean, CCU School of Business and Leadership

Dr. William Watson, historian, CCU

"The fellows will be a source of intellectual ammunition for Colorado Christian University in bridging between the political arena and the campus," stated John Andrews, the former state senator, now director of the Centennial Institute.

Launched in early 2009, the Institute sponsors research, events, and publications to enhance public understanding of the most important issues facing Colorado and America, thereby fostering faith, family, freedom, and citizenship. Andrews is also the host of Backbone Radio, is a TV commentator, and is a columnist for The Denver Post.

"The fellows are some of our state's most important thought-leaders," commented CCU President Bill Armstrong. "It's an honor for CCU to count them as allies in putting the Centennial Institute on the map."

The Centennial Institute is currently developing a lecture series, which kicked off to rave reviews with an April 8 debate, on global warming and the Kyoto Protocol, between climatologist James White (University of Colorado-Boulder) and Christopher Horner of the Competitive Enterprise Institute (Washington, D.C.). The Institute just introduced its monthly speech digest, Centennial Review, along with a full-service Web site and online blog, and is developing student internships in public policy and mass media.
