CCU Receives $5 Million Gift to Armstrong Legacy Campaign
Colorado Christian University has received a $5 million donation to the Armstrong Legacy Campaign. The cash gift, from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous, is the second-largest in University history.
"I am thrilled to announce this transformative gift to Colorado Christian University," said Dr. Donald W. Sweeting, president of CCU. "This incredible generosity will propel the University to new heights as we aspire to fulfill God's plan to serve and educate with grace and truth."
The Armstrong Legacy Campaign is the University's most ambitious to date. Named for CCU's late president, Bill Armstrong, it seeks to secure $30.2 million in funding to construct a state-of-the-art facility that will host the School of Music -- providing both academic and performance space for one of the institution's most successful programs. Additionally, it will be home to CCU's first dedicated chapel and the University Library. The Armstrong Center will form a new backbone of campus -- complementing the Anschutz Student Center to the southeast and Leprino Hall to the southwest.
The latest gift brings the total pledged to the campaign to $25.2 million. The $5 million donation was also designated an 'inspirational matching gift,' encouraging other donors to contribute to the campaign in order to bring it to completion.
"As we enter the campaign's final stretch it's amazing to see God's plan for the University come to fruition. The generosity of the donor is truly appreciated as students for generations to come will benefit from this course-altering donation," said Eric Hogue, vice president of University Advancement. "This gift has propelled CCU to within striking distance of our goal and is an affirmation of the value of a Christ-centered education."
The University is currently in the middle phase of a complete redevelopment of its Lakewood campus. In 2014, Leprino Hall was completed, providing much needed academic and classroom space. It was followed in 2015 by the completion of Yetter Hall, a 300-bed, apartment-style residential housing facility. In 2017, the Anschutz Student Center was opened, featuring 60,000 square feet of dining, communal gathering, and office space. Rockmont Hall, a 115,000-square-foot residential facility, is slated to open in 2019.
Campus redevelopment has coincided with nine consecutive years of enrollment growth at the University. Nearly 1,400 students currently study on the Lakewood campus as part of the College of Undergraduate Studies and are joined by nearly 7,000 students online and at regional centers throughout Colorado in the College of Adult and Graduate Studies.
