CCU Announces New Online Graduate Education Programs

Colorado Christian University’s School of Education Professions in the College of Adult and Graduate Studies has expanded its academic program offerings to include an online Master of Education in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education degree and a stand-alone online Principal Licensure program.

The new graduate-level Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education program is designed to train licensed teachers to be knowledgeable in teaching English to speakers of other languages. The stand-alone Principal Licensure program is designed for experienced teachers who are seeking a path to become a licensed school principal without completing a graduate degree.

“The Master of Education in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education will prepare educators to serve students who are English language learners,” Dr. Wendy Wendover, dean of the School of Education Professions, said. “An important goal of every educator is to meet the needs of all students when it comes to learning. The M.Ed. in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education degree will prepare you to do just that.”

The new graduate-level program meets the requirements set forth by the Colorado Department of Education for an endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education and is aligned with the standards for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). The 30-credit-hour program provides the skills necessary to work in other countries as teachers of English, and to support second language learners in Colorado classrooms.

The 27-credit-hour Principal Licensure-only program is designed for current educators and administrators. The program prepares candidates to obtain a Colorado principal’s license and is designed to enhance expertise in governance, finance, law, leadership, and strategic planning.

“The new Principal Licensure program is an exciting development for Colorado Christian University,” Wendover said. “The new programs signal CCU’s continued commitment to meet the needs of education professionals in a constantly evolving environment.”

Principal Licensure students will learn to lead teachers, develop and implement curriculum standards, and guide educators to meet established academic goals. Students will also learn how to manage budgets, establish proper security, and work more effectively with stakeholders.

The two new programs join CCU’s robust lineup in the School of Education Professions. Offerings include bachelor’s degrees in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Special Education and master’s degrees in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, and Special Education.
