News: Steve Taylor Stars in 'Fiddler on the Roof'

School of Music Dean and Alumna featured in the Ovation West production

Colorado Christian University's Dean of the School of Music, Steven Taylor, stars as Tevye in the Ovation West Musical Theatre's "Fiddler On The Roof" Sept. 18- Oct. 10 in Evergreen. Taylor is joined on stage by CCU alumni Aurora Hunter '21 as Tzeitel.

"Fiddler On The Roof" premiered on Broadway in 1964 and has had five Broadway revival runs. The musical tells the bittersweet story of milkman, Tevye, and his daughters whose lives are overshadowed by the rise of anti-Semitism in early 20th century Europe. Audiences will enjoy the following well-loved songs, "Sunrise, Sunset," "If I Were A Rich Man," and "Matchmaker, Matchmaker."

A 37-member-strong, multigenerational, mixed Jewish and non-Jewish cast is made up of familiar faces as well as new talent. Taylor, well known at CCU and throughout the Rocky Mountain region for his wide range of singing and acting expertise, is supported by Dana Hart Wright in her role as his wife, Golde. CCU's Aurora Hunter is joined by Norika Zehnder in the role of Tzeitel.

Steve Wilson joins Ovation West as stage director for the production. Wilson is an award-winning director, actor, teacher, and administrator with more than 30 years' experience. Ovation West's Artistic and Principal Music Director Christine Gaudreau provides musical direction and Rachael Lessard provides choreography.

Ovation West Performing Arts is comprised of The Evergreen Chorale, Center Stage Theater, Ovation West Musical Theatre, Altezza Chamber Choir, Summer Music Camp, and Shining Stars Concert Series. This season marks the opening of the organization's 50th anniversary.
