CCU raises $5.8M at President’s Weekend
The University launches the Forward with Conviction capital campaign to build a dedicated science building
Colorado Christian University, the preeminent Christian liberal arts university in the Rocky Mountain region, secured more than $5.8 million in gifts and pledges during the University’s second annual President’s Weekend event at the Montage seaside resort in Laguna Beach, Calif., Feb. 17-20. CCU President Dr. Donald W. Sweeting, members of the University faculty, distinguished alumni, and members of the Board of Trustees presented their vision for CCU and the University’s goal of expanding and enhancing its strong science and engineering programs, including the formal launch of the Forward with Conviction capital campaign to build a dedicated science building on the Lakewood campus.
“When people ask me about my vision for the University, I begin with the importance of mobilizing a generation of students, an army of world changers equipped, inspired, and called to serve God in their chosen fields. It is our vision to send out as many of them as we can, as fast as we can. Class after class. Wave after wave. Moving forward with conviction. These students are Colorado Christian University’s gift to the world,” Sweeting said.
The event brought together parents, alumni, and friends of the University to pray, worship, and fellowship. The highlight of the weekend was the official launch of the Forward with Conviction capital campaign to build a state-of-the-art academic center to house the School of Science and Engineering in the College of Undergraduate Studies. More than $2.6 million was pledged over the weekend for the science center, raising the total pledges and contributions for the new academic building to just under $11 million during the campaign’s initial quiet period.
“The new science and technology building will be the centerpiece of CCU’s bold, pathbreaking effort to produce more graduates in the STEM fields so vital to America’s future, if this nation is to maintain its preeminence as a leader in innovation and invention,” Sweeting said.
The School of Science and Engineering is the largest school in the College of Undergraduate Studies and includes several of the University’s fastest-growing programs. The school, which includes CCU’s popular pre-medicine and biology majors, has expanded in recent years to include pre-physical therapy, industrial engineering, kinesiology and exercise science, and sports management. Roughly one-third of CUS students are enrolled in SSE or nursing and health sciences programs.

The 2022 President's Weekend comes on the heels of 12 consecutive years of record enrollment, including the University surpassing 9,000 students for the first time. CCU continues to garner national rankings across all areas of the University and continues to be recognized as a leading institution for both its academic rigor and its growth by U.S. News and World Report and the Chronicle of Higher Education.
