Biography and Professional Achievements

Briana Martin is a Colorado native, and grew up in the Centennial and Parker areas. She attended Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri for her undergraduate degree. This is where she learned the importance and gift of Christian higher education. She then earned her M.A. in history from Southwest Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas, then a Masters of Library and Information Sciences from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Martin comes to CCU with a background in school librarianship and public history work. She has worked at the DANK House museum, and Women and Leadership Archives in Chicago, Illinois. While at the museum, she worked on preserving German heritage in the city of Chicago through organizing and interpreting multiple collections of photos, artifacts, books, and newspapers. At the Women and Leadership Archives, she digitized and organized audio files of speeches, interviews and meetings. More recently, she has been a library instructor for elementary and middle school students. She plans to use her knowledge on proper research methods and database usage learned through historical and public history work, to run the Book a Librarian service. She will also bring her past teaching experiences to help teach classroom information literacy.
