Biography and Professional Achievements

Dr. Mark Bolte believes that professional counselors do more than help clients fix their problems, they seek to build their personhood and promote their well-being through authentic, caring, and supportive interactions. This must be taught experientially as well as academically. Likewise, he seeks to model what it looks like to walk with God as he counsels clients, for it is only through God’s redemptive touch that true healing and life can be found.

Bolte is a full-time in-seat professor at the Lakewood campus. He is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of South Carolina. Bolte has worked in the field of mental health since 1984, with experience in the areas of addiction counseling, crisis and trauma, adult and couple psychotherapy, diagnostic assessments, career counseling, leadership development, personnel assessments for military and public safety agencies, and forensic evaluations.

For 16 years Bolte was a full professor at a CACREP-accredited master of arts counseling program for a private, evangelical university in South Carolina. His academic emphasis was in the areas of integrating a biblical worldview with psychological theory, professional mentoring and personal development, and assessments and diagnostics. He is called to help people grow into the fullness of who God created them to be.

In addition to over 30 years of outpatient private practice counseling experience, Bolte has served in the Army Medical Service Corps, and as a police psychologist in the area of forensic employment evaluations for over 20 years. He and his wife of over 30 years have two grown sons. They are excited for this new adventure of starting a life in the Colorado mountains, as they pursue their love for hiking and nature. Bolte also enjoys woodworking, gardening, and home renovation.

Bolte holds memberships in the American Counselor Association, Christian Association for Psychological Studies, and the American Association of Christian Counselors. He is a certified provider for the Highlands Ability Battery and the Prepare & Enrich relational assessment. He is certified with the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation.
