Biography and Professional Achievements

Mary Spencer is a former Denver Public School teacher and administrator for the Colorado Department of Education. Currently, she is the Director of Assessment and an Assistant Professor for the College of Undergraduate Studies, School of Education. Professor Spencer has over 20 years of professional experience that includes professional teacher training in 25+ schools across 4 states, program development at the K-12 and higher education levels, accreditation management, state-wide K-12 literacy reform, continuous improvement models, and project management. Her academic areas of interest include teacher preparation, literacy, inner-city youth, and effective programs for English Language Learners. She is currently a doctoral student at Vanderbilt University.
