Trustee Spotlight

Dr. Margaret Fomer served as Executive Director of Denver Kids, Inc. and its precursor organizations, Denver Boys, Inc. and Denver Girls Inc. for more than fifteen years before her retirement. Denver Kids, Inc. helps students in Denver Public Schools who face the personal challenges of higher risk environments complete high school, obtain post-secondary education/training, and become productive members of our community.

Her extensive background includes a bachelor's degree in mathematics and physics and a master's degree in mathematics from East Texas State University (now Texas A & M) at Commerce, Texas. Margaret went on to earn a master's degree in counseling/psychology and a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado, in Boulder.

Boards and committees on which she presently or formerly served include Denver Area Youth for Christ, Family Homestead, Rocky Mountain Parents as Teachers, Denver Rescue Mission, Burt Foundation, Samaritan Institute Foundation, Denver Foundation, and the Rotary Club of Denver. She has also served in children's and youth ministries as well as women's, Christian education and music ministries.

Margaret is married to Dr. Robert Fomer, Jr. They have two adult children. They are members of Antioch Community Church, in inner city Denver.
