Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies (B.A.)

Program Options: Major, Minor

Specialized Emphases: lntercultural Ministry, International Business and Economic Development, International Relations and Diplomacy, and the Global Studies general track (which combines elements of the other three emphases)

As the whole world deals with events like Covid-19 and the war in Ukraine, it is clearer than ever that there has never been a greater need to gain a broad global perspective. As the world continues to change, it is crucial for Christians to understand and wisely relate to that world, and the different peoples, cultures and nations that comprise it. The Global Studies major, offered through the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, seeks to give students a global perspective on politics, international relations, journalism, world history, economics, business, culture and Christian ministry throughout the world.

The Global Studies major is an interdisciplinary course of study for students seeking to better understand the world so as to prepare them for work, study, and/or ministry in an international setting. Students will choose from one of four emphases based on their desired career goals. Additionally, students may combine the Global Studies major with any number of different minors to help them customize a program in their area of interest, whether business, history, politics, theology, or others.

Global Studies at CCU

Global Studies majors approach global problems with the spiritual needs of our world seen as a high priority, while seeking to understand also the economic, political, and other practical needs of the world and its peoples. What we aim to do in the world should be consistent with what Christ is doing in the world, for "God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." We love the world because God first loved the world.

While our Global Studies faculty aim to prepare students for the world, they cherish the values of the Christian and Western traditions and seek to produce students that appreciate our unique American heritage.

Global Studies majors at CCU are given many opportunities to engage with the world through study abroad programs (e.g., Rome, Quito, Oxford), mission trips (CCU2theWorld, etc.), and academic trips (e.g., London, Ireland, Israel, Greece, Washington, Asia, etc.) that take them to potentially all corners of the world.
