Minor in Music Theatre

Have you dreamed about making it big in New York, Hollywood, or Nashville? Have you wondered whether you would put your faith in danger in those environments? Colorado Christian University believes that Christians not only belong in those fields, but should excel in them.
Offered through the School of Music, the Music Theatre minor has a strong performance orientation for the purpose of preparing those with professional performance aspirations. The minor is also useful for students who want to tone and strengthen their artistic gifts for use in schools, local communities and the mission field.
Students in the Music Theatre minor will take courses in voice, stage movement and dance, acting, diction and more. Overall, the minor offers students interested in musical theatre an opportunity to develop the unique skill set required for musical theatre performance. Our purpose is to help you determine your calling and prepare yourself to pursue it with excellence. Theatre Scholarships may also be available for students who audition.
Music Theatre at CCU
In Exodus 35:30-36:2, God called artists by name for the making of the tabernacle in the desert and gifted them with artistic ability and talent. In I Chronicles 9:33, Scripture relates to us the position of temple singers who didn't need to do any other work because they were always on call as singers. God values and calls to artistry those who are gifted in it.

Auditioning for the School of Music
Prospective students who are planning to major or minor in music or theatre are required to audition for participation in most ensembles and for consideration for School of Music scholarships.

About the School of Music
The School of Music equips students with the necessary skills to become expressive artists and effective communicators from a Christian perspective through the discipline of music. Our students use music and theatre to impact culture for Christ, to honor Him, and to share His love on campus and around the world. Opportunities are open to students of all majors and include national and international tours for major ensembles and an on-campus recording studio.
Become a leader in both the world and the church as you learn to combine a progressive and distinctly Christian worldview with classical, jazz, contemporary, and world music. Colorado Christian University is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). NASM establishes national standards for undergraduate degrees and other credentials for music and music-related disciplines, and provides assistance to institutions and individuals engaged in artistic, scholarly, educational, and other music-related endeavors.
