Available Music Scholarships

Scholarships are available to those who wish to major or minor in music or theatre, and to those highly qualified non-majors who participate in select ensembles or theatre.

To be considered for a School of Music Scholarship award, the following criteria must be met:

  • GPA of 2.0 or higher (must be maintained to retain and renew the scholarship)
  • Intention to enroll as a full-time student (minimum of 12 credit hours per semester)
  • Demonstrate a high level of musical ability, talent, and potential
  • Audition with the School of Music (vocal, instrumental, pianist, or theatre)
  • Accepted into the CCU music program and/or a CCU music or theatre ensemble
  • Complete the application and audition process by March 1 for the subsequent fall semester

Scholarship application

Students wishing to apply for a music scholarship should:

  • Complete the Music Audition Form to set up an audition by March 1 for priority scholarship consideration. If you are unable to audition in person, we encourage you to arrange a live Zoom audition through the music office. If that is not possible, you may submit a high-quality video audition.
  • Have a CCU admission application in progress. Music scholarships cannot be offered to anyone who does not have an application on file with the Admissions Office.

Scholarship awards

After the audition, the appropriate coordinator makes recommendations to the music faculty for their consideration. These recommendations are forwarded to the Service Central office for final approval.

Awarded funds apply to the academic year immediately following the application. All scholarship awards are disbursed on a semester-by-semester basis.

Students are required to participate in an appropriate large ensemble (University Choir, University Women's Choir, Symphonic Band, Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Strings, Handbells, Men's Chorus) and any small ensemble for which they are selected each semester that they receive a scholarship.

Scholarship renewal

Students must submit a yearly music scholarship renewal application before March 1, which is available from the School of Music.

Ensemble participation scholarships are available to non-music majors for the following ensembles: University Choir, University Women's Choir, University Symphonic Band, Men's Chorus, Chamber Strings, Handbell Ensemble, and theatre participation.
