Derek Hamilton

Trustee Spotlight

Derek Hamilton has spent his entire career in the investment industry, serving most recently as the global economist for Ivy Investments, a global organization dedicated to strategically helping investors best meet their goals for long-term results.

In addition to his work in the investment world, Hamilton has a heart for serving others all over the world. He has been on several international and domestic mission trips over the years and is an advisory board member for Hope Is Alive Ministries in Kansas City, Kansas, which is an organization dedicated to radically changing the lives of drug addicts, alcoholics, and those who love them. He also enjoys serving at his local church.

Although he is a flatlander, Hamilton has always enjoyed spending time in the mountains. It was during a trip to Colorado that he and his family stumbled upon Colorado Christian University nestled on the edge of the Rockies. The University’s unswerving dedication to Christ paired with its rigorous academics led to both of his children attending CCU.

During Hamilton’s own college years, he studied finance and economics, earning both a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri.

Today, Hamilton and his wife, Melanie, make their home in Olathe, Kansas. In his spare time, Hamilton enjoys spending time with his wife and their two adult children, and he can often be found playing golf, hiking, skiing, and cheering on the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs.
