    A memorable season came to a close on Saturday for the Cougars as they faced off with North Georgia for the National Championship. The two teams battled to the very end, but it was Colorado Christian who showed the poise and grittiness at the end to claim the university's first national title.

Poag has served as the head cross country and track and field coach for the men’s and women’s teams since 2015 and as the assistant athletics director for facilities since 2023. He succeeds Brian Wall who will be retiring after more than seven years overseeing one of the most successful periods in Cougar Athletics.
