CCU Holds In-service on Martin Luther King Day
Colorado Christian University is holding its second annual Martin Luther King Jr. in-service day on Monday, January 17 to celebrate the memory and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. CCU created this in-service day last year to raise awareness for the importance of continuing to work on racial reconciliation in society today.
This event is an important aspect of bringing the CCU community together to better understand the sacrifices made by those who have fought for racial reconciliation. In addition, the activities during the in-service serve to educate people on current issues and barriers regarding race relations.
This year's theme for the in-service is perseverance. During the day CCU students, faculty, and staff will participate in a variety of workshops, a special chapel service, and a gospel choir festival. They will also have the opportunity to watch and discuss films on issues relating to race relations. The workshops and film discussions will be led by members of CCU's faculty and staff.
The CCU community will also attend a keynote address from Dr. Larron Jackson, former Denver Bronco and author of "The Ghetto, Gridiron and the Gospel: A Journey in God's Grace."
