CCU Alum to Represent Costa Rica in 2006 Olympics

Colorado Christian University alumnus Arturo Kinch '79 is heading to Torino to compete in the 2006 Olympic Games. He is slated to ski in the 15 km Classic Cross Country on February 17 with the Costa Rica team. He also may be able to take part in the XC (sprint) if he qualifies during the trials. This will be Kinch's fifth Olympic appearance. He also competed in 1980, 1984, 1988, and 2002.

Kinch graduated in 1979 from Rockmont College, one of CCU's heritage institutions, with a degree in biblical studies. As a missionary kid from Costa Rica, he had never seen snow before coming to Colorado. During his time at Rockmont he joined the ski team and developed a passion for the sport. After graduating, Kinch founded the Costa Rica Ski Association and competed in the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics as Costa Rica's first and only Olympic athlete in the sport. Kinch currently works for United Airlines and lives in Denver.
