News: New University Logo

New Colorado Christian University Logo

After nearly 25 years, Colorado Christian University has a new University logo that honors its heritage while embracing a modern and academic look.

As part of a year-long rebranding initiative, the highly anticipated new logo was unveiled in a University town hall event in the Anschutz Student Center on Monday, June 18. The new design replaces the former University logo which was adopted after Colorado Christian College became Colorado Christian University in 1989.

Chris Franz, assistant vice president of Communications and Creative Services at CCU, remarked, "The previous University logo was designed before digital and social media became dominant forms of communication. That logo was challenging to use in digital formats which benefit from bold and flexible graphics."

The new Colorado Christian University logo combines design with function, and serves as a foundation for a shared corporate brand that can be adapted to a variety of communication platforms. The type face is easy to read in both digital and print media. The logo maintains a strong connection to the University seal by incorporating essential elements from seal.

CCU President Dr. Donald W. Sweeting said, "Our new logo brings back into prominence the Word of God, the Cross of Christ, and Shield of Faith, as well as our University motto: ‘grace and truth.’ It brings consistency of brand as well as a refreshing new look that promotes greater unity for CCU. It also references our historical roots as a university, founded more than 100 years ago on the principles of grace and truth. We have a great story to tell -- a story of lives transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ and a CCU education. Our new logo helps us tell that story."

The rebranding initiative is part of the University's strategic plan introduced one year ago. At the core of the task is clarifying the organization's mission, priorities, and future. CCU's institutional history shows that the founders and leaders were visionary; the current administration is committed to fortifying the University mission, defining purpose, and establishing new goals.

As the University introduces this new visual brand in its marketing and recruitment efforts, CCU will employ a phased rollout of the new logo over the next several months in digital and print media, and throughout its main campus in Lakewood and regional centers for the College of Adult and Graduate Studies throughout Colorado.
