CCU Announces Retirement of Head Men’s Golf Coach Mark Hull
LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Colorado Christian University (CCU) announces the retirement of Head Men’s Golf Coach Mark Hull, who concludes an extraordinary 21-year tenure marked by competitive excellence, spiritual mentorship, and historic achievement. Since joining the program in 2005, Hull has guided CCU Men’s Golf into a nationally respected powerhouse within NCAA Division II athletics.
Coach Hull’s legacy includes leading the Cougars to their first NCAA Division II National Championship in 2024 and a National Runner-Up finish in 2025. The 2024–25 team went undefeated against all Division II opponents — finishing the season with an unprecedented 153-0-1 record. Under his leadership, CCU appeared in nine NCAA Regional Tournaments over the last 12 years, secured four NCCAA national titles between 2014 and 2017, and consistently developed student-athletes who performed at the highest levels of collegiate golf.
Beyond the titles, Coach Hull has exemplified a holistic development approach. His student-athletes have earned national honors, academic awards, and individual championships — all while growing in character and servant leadership. He leaves a program built not just on performance, but on purpose.
“Coach Hull truly cares about these young men — not just as athletes, but as people,” said Jon Poag, Director of Athletics. “His focus has never been solely on performance. From day one, his priority has been to shape men of integrity, humility, and strong Christian faith. His impact on their lives will carry far beyond the fairways and into every calling they pursue.”
CCU President Eric Hogue also recognized Hull’s lasting impact. “Coach Hull is a powerful example of what it looks like to pursue excellence,” Hogue said. “His coaching achievements are remarkable, but what truly defines his legacy is his faithful investment in CCU's men's golf program and our amazing student-athletes. We celebrate Coach Hull's stellar career with gratitude, and we praise God for his service.”
As Colorado Christian University begins the national search for its next head men’s golf coach, the focus remains clear: to identify a leader who will carry forward the program’s momentum while honoring its deeply rooted commitment to Christ-centered coaching, character formation, and competitive excellence. The search process will reflect the university’s values — prioritizing spiritual maturity, a Christ-centered coaching drive, and a passion for developing student-athletes who glorify God through sport.
