Colorado Christian University Announces 2026 World Changers Scholarship Recipients

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Colorado Christian University (CCU) is proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 World Changers Scholarship, the University’s premier full-tuition scholarship awarded annually to three incoming freshmen who exemplify academic excellence, entrepreneurial initiative, servant leadership and a commitment to Christ-centered impact.

Selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants nationwide, this year’s recipients demonstrate not only academic distinction, but also a clear calling to influence their communities for God’s glory.

“These remarkable students embody the kind of Christ-centered leadership our world so desperately needs,” said CCU President Eric Hogue. “Their academic excellence, perseverance and commitment to serving others reflect the heart of Colorado Christian University. We are honored to welcome them to our community and excited to see how God will use them to make a lasting impact.”

Abby Smith — South Hill, Washington

Abby Smith, a senior at Emerald Ridge High School in South Hill, Washington, is a student-athlete competing in cross country and track while earning college credit through Advanced Placement exams and dual enrollment coursework at her local community college.

Abby plans to pursue a field that serves medically fragile children, either in medicine or education.

“God and His ever-abounding grace and love for me constantly drive me forward,” Smith said. “All that I do has a much bigger purpose than myself.”

Jack Shirin — Colorado Springs, Colorado

Jack Shirin, a senior at TCA College Pathways in Colorado Springs, carries a 4.16 weighted GPA and has earned 36 college credits. He is the owner of Young Buck Hauling, a junk removal business serving the Colorado Springs community, and the founder of Rocky Mountain Country Dancing, a weekly gathering that brings together more than 215 people each Monday night.

Through both ventures, Shirin focuses on serving others, building community and creating opportunities for meaningful connection.

Katya Baylor — Lakewood, Colorado

Katya Baylor, a Lakewood native, attends Addenbrooke Classical Academy, a K–12 charter school in Lakewood. She will graduate as valedictorian of her class and serves as parliamentarian for her school’s National Honor Society chapter. She also operates her own housecleaning business and has siblings who previously attended CCU.

Baylor plans to pursue business administration and entrepreneurship, drawn to both the challenges and freedom of building something meaningful.

“I attended World Changers without any expectation of winning,” Baylor said. “Throughout the weekend, God confirmed through unexpected connections that CCU is exactly where He wants me to be. I look forward to how He continues shaping my heart and changing the world.”

“These students represent exactly what we’re looking for at Colorado Christian University,” said Dr. Neal Anderson, vice president of student life and traditional enrollment. “Our World Changers aren’t just high achievers; they’re future leaders who will make a lasting impact in their families, communities and professions. We’re thrilled to welcome them to the CCU family.”

In addition to the three full-tuition scholarship recipients, 25 finalists in the World Changers competition will receive a $1,000 World Changer Finisher Scholarship in recognition of their outstanding achievement.

The World Changers Scholarship recognizes students who combine intellectual distinction, entrepreneurial drive, spiritual maturity and a demonstrated commitment to advancing Christ-centered leadership in every sphere of society.
