Biography and Professional Achievements

Dr. Alisa Shanks is a clinical psychologist and eating disorders specialist. Dr. Shanks has been licensed in Colorado since 2004 and in Kansas since 2012. She enjoys both clinical work and teaching. After completing her pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral training at the Student Health Center at CU-Boulder, she was selected to serve as the Eating Disorders Clinician and Program Coordinator for 8 years. From 2008-2012, Shanks taught a week-long May-term class on eating disorders at CCU while working at CU Boulder.

Shanks' primary role on campus is serving as the Director of the Larry J Crabb Center for University Counseling where she supervises many of the staff members and supports clients in finding hope and healing. Due to her clinical focus, her approach to teaching is informed by her years of rich clinical experience, and a personal growth mindset for her students taking the Jan-term Eating Disorders class.
