Biography and Professional Achievements

Kathy Johnson, having retired from her role as Assistant Director of Field Experiences, but continuing to teach at CCU, shares her passion for teaching with both undergraduate education students and alternative license students in the School of Education Professions. Having served 33 years in the elementary classroom, she is able to share her experiences with her students in a way that allows them to see practical experience and a love for teaching and learning. She is also a mentor to them, often staying in touch after they’ve completed their degree(s) from CCU.

With a heart for rural schools, Johnson presents at local and national conferences sharing the needs of teachers for rural schools.

Johnson, her husband, and their two sons arrived in Grand Junction, Colorado, over 20 years ago from California. She and her husband love spending time outdoors, exploring the trails of western Colorado, camping, and all sports, especially pickleball. She also loves spending time with her grandson and her three goldendoodles.
