Biography and Professional Achievements

Dr. Karen McGibbon holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University and a Doctor of Ministry from Winebrenner Theological Seminary, with advanced training in pastoral psychology and a foundational background in the biological sciences. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Ohio and Jamaica. With over three decades of experience spanning Caribbean and American clinical and educational settings, Dr. McGibbon has served as a professor, practicum coordinator, conference presenter, and is a past President of the Northwest Ohio Counseling Association.

Dr. McGibbon and her husband, Frank, have served together in Christian ministry for over thirty years. They are the proud parents of a son and daughter, and cherish their roles as grandparents to two precious granddaughters.

Dr. McGibbon believes that effective counseling education bridges rigorous clinical training with a deep grounding in faith and purpose. Her teaching intentionally weaves together professional best practices and theologically informed frameworks, preparing future counselors to serve diverse populations with both competence and compassion. Her Doctor of Ministry focused specifically on theologically informed counseling, reflecting her conviction that faith and professional excellence are not merely compatible — they are mutually enriching.
