Biography and Professional Achievements

Rachel Perez has been a part of Colorado Christian University's affiliate faculty as the flute instructor for nine years. In addition to her flute students at the University, she maintains a small private studio. As an experienced nonprofit arts administrator, she has worked as Opera Colorado's Marketing Manager for three years. Prior to that, she worked for the Colorado Symphony as Director of Communications. An internationally trained concert flutist, Perez studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she earned her Master's degree in flute performance with Michael Cox and the late Sebastian Bell.

She earned her Bachelor of Music degree at Eastman School of Music where she studied with Bonita Boyd. A highly qualified music educator, she has taught music throughout London. Locally she has performed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, the Colorado Spring Philharmonic and the Boulder Symphony Orchestra. Additionally she has worked as a flutist with Denver's Inside the Orchestra for their educational programming. Her other performance credits include the London Steve Reich Ensemble, Saga Ruby Cruise Ships, Cygnus and Adoramus Symphony Orchestras in London and the American Wind Symphony Orchestra, among others.

As a flutist, she has competed as a finalist in the Royal Academy of Music Club Prize and the National Flute Association's Young Artists Competition. Also an accomplished athlete, Perez has competed nationally in USA Boxing tournaments and runs competitively with the Colorado Running Club. She also enjoys cooking, studying nutrition, Pilates and spending time with loved ones in Colorado's great outdoors.
