Biography and Professional Achievements

In 2017, Shannon Maddox joined the College of Adult and Graduate Studies as the Administrative Assistant for the School of Education Professions and the School of Biblical and Theological Studies. In 2021, she earned an M. A. in Theological Studies at CCU and soon after was hired as Affiliate Faculty.

Her passion for theological studies is born out of a quest to see others grow spiritually as well as academically. She says, “I teach theology because I see that many Christians are not only lacking in scriptural literacy but are also unaware of the rich history and scriptural doctrines that shape a deep devotion to Christ. I want to help students more clearly understand and more deeply practice their faith.”

Miss Maddox was born and raised in Alabama and moved to Lakewood, Colorado in 2017. She is a member of Colorado Community Church in Aurora, Colorado. When Shannon isn’t teaching courses or at her full-time job as Lead Administrative Assistant for the College of Adult and Graduate Studies, she is busy reading, crafting, painting, or quilting.

Faith and Learning

At CCU, Instructor Maddox integrates faith and learning by equipping students with both the academic and pragmatic elements of Theology. James 1:27 (NASB) states, “Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.” In other words, pure theology is not that which occupies textbooks as theory, but that which penetrates the heart as living the disciple’s life, via worshiping God, and serving others.
