Biography and Professional Achievements
Verena was born and raised in Germany, where she met her husband, who served in the US Air Force. Their journey allowed her to work as a nurse in multiple states, including Massachusetts, Virginia, and Florida. She is also a nurse in her home country and was part of the nursing team at the University of Tuebingen, which is ranked among the top 4 hospitals worldwide specializing in maternal and infant care. She is passionate about women’s and infants' health, having spent her whole career in OB/GYN nursing.
Her love for bedside nursing and her desire to come alongside patients led her to pursue a degree in nursing education. She joined Colorado Christian University in December of 2025 and instantly felt like CCU is a place where excellence in nursing education and faith are woven together.
Faith and Learning
Verena is passionate about helping our next generation of students integrate their nursing knowledge and their faith in our Creator. Understanding that, as nurses, we are in a unique position to care deeply for others' needs while continuing to grow in our understanding of how faithful and loving our God is. Her desire is that our nursing students grow academically and professionally and are driven by Colossians 3:23 (NIV): Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.
