Biography and Professional Achievements
Dr. Tate is a full-time in-seat faculty member at the Lakewood campus in Colorado. She also served as the Program Director at CCU in the School of Counseling from 2009 to 2013 and worked to help the program achieve its initial CACREP accreditation. Tate is passionate about Neurofeedback and how God’s design of the brain interacts with and informs mental health.
Since 2004, she has provided Neurofeedback services in various settings, including a private practice in Colorado since 2010. She developed a Board-approved course for Certification in Neurofeedback in 2021 and teaches this course a few times per year in Lakewood.
Tate loves teaching others with hands-on experience, and she has worked with over 15 interns in her practice who have integrated Neurofeedback into their therapy work. Most recently, she earned the QEEG Diplomat certification and provides consultation and training to Neurofeedback providers, teaching them how to understand RAW EEG signals and how various patterns/phenotypes indicate specific mental health issues and predict medication response.
Tate is a member of the Colorado Counseling Association and the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research. Her research interests revolve around both spiritual and emotional growth and development. She loves to teach and mentor beginning counseling students and watch as they grow in both their own development and skill, and as they learn to create the space for clients to achieve significant moments of transformation in their spiritual and emotional health.

Faith and Learning
At CCU, Dr. Tate integrates faith and learning by providing opportunities for students to explore their own spiritual beliefs along with spiritual integration models published in the Psychology and Counseling literature. Through reflection and Faith Informed Clinical Practice discussions, students prayerfully find ways to integrate who they are as a believer in Christ with their specific gifts and calling as a counselor to provide effective interventions for their clients that incorporate clinical skill, cultural sensitivity and spiritual integration when appropriate.
