Trailhead Weekend

August 28-30, 2026

We can't wait to once again bring our new freshmen, new transfers, and seniors to this off-campus community building weekend! This traditional event is a key piece of our orientation programming including worship and reflection in God's creation. Trailhead weekend provides an opportunity for students to connect with peers as well as get to know others within the CCU community, all while having a great time of fellowship. The weekend takes place at Crooked Creek, a Young Life camp located in the beautiful mountain setting of Fraser, Colorado.

Important Reminders

  • Trailhead Weekend is required for all new students enrolled in INT 101 and INT 102, and grade points are attached to this course assignment. INT 101 students are automatically registered to attend Trailhead Weekend and do not need to sign up.
  • We believe this weekend sets new students up for a successful time at CCU, though we understand that there may be a few circumstances preventing a student from attending. Excused absences are as follows:
    • illness with a doctor's note
    • a CCU Athletics conference game
    • a previously scheduled family engagement (e.g., wedding)
  • If your situation falls within one of the exceptions, the excused absence form must be submitted with documentation.
  • Transfer Students not enrolled in INT 102 are also invited to attend. You will receive detailed information via email once you have registered for Weekend of Welcome on how to register for this event.
  • Charter bus transportation will be provided by CCU. All students must use the provided transportation.
  • WiFi may not be reliable, and we encourage you to plan your academic schedule and assignments accordingly.

The New Student Retreat was a good experience for me because it challenged me spiritually, I got to meet new friends, and grow closer to those I already knew. Each of the sessions spoke to me and pushed me even now.

The retreat for me was a chance to not only meet new people and create friendships with other freshmen on campus, but to take a little brain break. The retreat came at a perfect time!

Overall in the end it all turned out to be a lot of fun and just some needed time to be in community with others and to grow friendships. I am thankful for this experience and the work that God did in my heart.

Worshipping the Lord up high in the mountains, I could feel His presence. As I looked at nature, I realized how great the Lord I serve is. The more I went to the sessions, the more my heart became open.
