Housing Requirements
Full-time (12 credit hours or more per semester), unmarried, first-, second-, and third-year students (with CCU start terms beginning in fall 2026) under the age of 21, who are taking courses in the College of Undergraduate Studies (traditional program) are required to live on campus.
Students within the three-year residency requirement who wish to be considered for a residency exemption to live with their parents in the Denver metro area can submit a Housing Waiver Application using the housing application tab of the CCU Housing Portal.
Meal Plans
Eligibility and Requirements
All unmarried first, second, and third-year students under the age of 21 who live in on-campus housing are required to have a meal plan through CCU.
- First-Year Students: Required to have Meal Plan A.
- Second-Year Students: May choose Meal Plan A or Meal Plan B.
- Third-Year Students (CCU start terms prior to fall 2026):
- Not required to purchase a meal plan.
- May choose from any available meal plan.
- Third-Year Students (CCU start terms beginning in fall 2026):
- Required to choose Meal Plan A, Meal Plan B, or Meal Plan C.
- Fourth-Year Students:
- Not required to purchase a meal plan.
- May choose from any available meal plan.
Off-Campus Students
Students living off campus may choose from any of the available meal plans.
Important Information:
- Unused meals and declining balances are non-refundable.
- These benefits are part of your meal plan contract and expire at the end of each semester.
- Meals and declining balances do not carry over from one semester to the next.
Student Classification
For housing and food service policies, the University classifies students as follows.
First-Year Students
A first-year student is defined as:
- Any student starting their first year of college at CCU.
- Any transfer student with fewer than 30 credits earned after graduating from high school.
- Note: AP and dual credit courses taken in high school are not considered transfer credits for this classification, though they will be evaluated for credit upon enrollment.
Second-Year Students
A second-year student is defined as:
- Any student who was classified as a first-year student at CCU during their most recently enrolled academic year.
- Any transfer student who has completed 30-60 credits after graduating from high school (as determined by Admissions upon enrollment).
- Note: AP and dual credit courses taken in high school are not considered transfer credits for this classification, though they will be evaluated for credit upon enrollment.
Third-Year Students
A third-year upper-class student is defined as:
- Any student who was classified as a second-year student during their most recently enrolled academic year.
- Any transfer student who has completed 61-90 credits after graduating from high school (as determined by Admissions upon enrollment).
- Note: AP and dual credit courses taken in high school are not considered transfer credits for this classification, though they will be evaluated for credit upon enrollment.
Fourth-Year Students
A fourth-year student is defined as:
- Any student who was classified as a third-year student during their most recently enrolled academic year.
- Any transfer student who has completed 90 or more credits after graduating from high school (as determined by Admissions upon enrollment).
- Note: AP and dual credit courses taken in high school are not considered transfer credits for this classification, though they will be evaluated for credit upon enrollment.
