News: Alum Finalist for Disney Role

Walt Disney Company Announces CCU Alum as Finalist for Prestigious Ambassadorship

Representatives from the Walt Disney Company have spent several months searching for a select few Disney employees to assume the time-honored role of Walt Disney World Ambassador. It was announced this month that six finalists are being considered for the 2009 calendar year, including Colorado Christian University alumna Jennifer Hilzer.

The Walt Disney World Ambassador program began in 1964. Each January, a new team of ambassadors embarks on a yearlong assignment to represent the company on a global scale. Thousands of Disney employees are invited to participate in the annual selection process, with the final team chosen based on criteria that include skill, poise, passion for the Disney mission, and knowledge of the company's heritage. The 2008 ambassador team has represented Disney at more than 1,500 events, visited 38 children's hospitals during a 22-city national tour, hosted VIPs, and traveled to Disney destinations worldwide.

Hilzer, from Greeley, Colorado, began her Disney career in 2001 when she accepted a position with the Disney College Program. After completing her bachelor's degree in communication in 2004 at CCU, she returned to Walt Disney Resort as a professional intern in their guest relations division. Since then, she has served in various roles at Disney's All-Star Resorts, Old Key West Resort, and Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa.

In 2008, Hilzer completed a master's degree in curriculum and instruction, also from CCU.
