Biography and Professional Achievements

Dr. Gary W. Ewen believes that there is more to success than making money. It’s all about making a difference. To make a difference, people need the right perspective. In the School of Business and Leadership, all of the business classes integrate faith in Jesus Christ as paramount. The goal is to act as a student's personal trainer in preparation to become a Christian business leader within their selected career field and community.

Dr. Ewen has an undergraduate degree in education, a master’s degree in educational technology, and a doctorate in strategic leadership. He co-founded an instructional software development firm in 1980 and his own consulting firm called Pathfinder Integration, LLC in 2012.

Ewen has served for 37 years at Colorado Christian University. He spent 16 of those years as CCU's chief technology officer. After that, he spent 7 years as a full-time faculty member while completing his doctorate, 10 as the Dean of the School of Business and Leadership, member, and the past 3 as Dean Emeritus and full-time faculty member. Ewen has authored computer applications textbooks for Addison-Wesley, Prentice Hall, and instructional computer software programs. He obtained numerous technology grants for CCU in the tens of millions of dollars.

In 1993, Ewen was tasked with starting the School of Business, the Freshman Year Integration course, and the Outdoor Leadership program, and in 1998, he established the foundational system software for distance education and remote learning for CCU.
