Dr. Nathan French has served as an affiliate faculty member in the College of Adult and Graduate Studies since 2013. He holds a Ph.D. (2018) in Hebrew Bible and ancient Near Eastern Studies from the University of Aberdeen, which is located in Scotland. Between the years 2009-2011, French lived in Jerusalem, Israel, where he completed his M.A. (2012) in Hebrew Bible and ancient Near Eastern Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. During that time, he was afforded the opportunity to learn from some of the most prominent scholars presently in the field.

Under their tutelage, French studied a host of ancient languages, including Akkadian, Ugaritic, Biblical Aramaic, Egyptian, Greek, and of course, ancient Hebrew. Also, he gained invaluable knowledge of the archaeology of Jerusalem and the land of Israel. French is very familiar with the land and has traveled extensively throughout it. He has maintained relationships with friends in the north of Israel, in Jerusalem, and in Bethlehem. His passion in the classroom is to inspire his students to engage the study of the Hebrew Bible in its ancient Near Eastern context. French and his wife have on son, and a wee Pug from Scotland.
