Prerequisites for the Master's in Accounting Degree
Applicants to CCU's online M.S. in Accounting program are required to have an undergraduate degree in accounting or an equivalent. Applicants are also required to have an undergraduate finance OR equivalent finance course OR ACC 320A Financial Statement Analysis (prerequisite for FIN 501 – Financial Foundations).
These prerequisites may be fulfilled in one of the following ways:
- The completion of undergraduate coursework as demonstrated by the student’s transcript
- Taking the course at CCU or another accredited undergraduate institution
- Completing the equivalent CLEP or DSST exams
- Completing the courses online. See below for details.

CCU has partnered with Ivy Software to provide students with a convenient and flexible way to fulfill online prerequisite courses at an affordable cost. The following course is available for purchase:
Understanding Corporate Finance (fulfills the Finance prerequisite)
The program takes on average 20 hours to complete. Students are able to download all course material. The student must pass a final course test with at least an 80% in order for the course to count toward the prerequisite.
Notify your CCU Student Services Advisor (SSA) of any problems you encounter with an Ivy Software program or any time you pass a test. He or she will be able to take the appropriate action to ensure that your degree plan is updated with the completed prerequisite information.
