Education Benefits for Reserves

Soldier in the Reserves, Student at CCU

CCU understands the sacrifices and dedication necessary to be a reserve member of the armed forces. That’s why the University offers courses online, on site, and on base. Explore CCU’s special tuition rates and programs designed specifically for reserve military personnel and their families.

Military Tuition Rate

CCU offers a special undergraduate military tuition rate to Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard service members and their adult dependents. Students receiving the Post-9/11 GI Bill at the maximum benefit rate are not eligible for the active duty military tuition discount.

Military Transfer Credit

Military service personnel and veterans may receive undergraduate credit for Basic Training and other formal educational experience gained while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Potential transfer credit may already be documented on the CCAF (Air Force), Joint Service Transcripts (JST), and credit by examination (CLEP/DSST).

GI Bill Information

GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

VA education programs, often referred to as simply the GI Bill, exist to help Veterans and current Service Members pay for their civilian education and training programs. The two most common education benefits for reserve members are the Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve (Chapter 1606) and Post-9/11 (Chapter 33).

With the passage of the Harry W. Colmery Educational Assistance Act of 2017, otherwise known as the Forever GI Bill®, various provisions of the Act may have an impact on veterans’ educational benefits. Please visit the VA’s website for more information about the Forever GI Bill.

Chapter 1606 – Montgomery GI Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR)

The Montgomery GI Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR) program provides education and training benefits to eligible members of the Selected Reserve, including the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve and Coast Guard Reserve, and the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard.

Chapter 33 – Post-9/11

The Post-9/11 GI Bill has a few specific components that are unavailable in other GI Bill programs:
