CAGS Endowed Scholarships

CAGS currently offers the Free to Succeed, IVy Women, and Larry J. Crabb CAGS Endowed Scholarships. Learn more about the scholarship funds and criteria below.

Students who qualify as applicants for CAGS scholarships will be notified via email about scholarship application processes and deadlines.


Free to Succeed CAGS Endowed Scholarship

Established 2021

Lisa Harris’09 is an alumna of Colorado Christian University. As a non-traditional student herself, Lisa is passionate about creating opportunities for others.

Criteria

To qualify as an applicant, students shall:

  1. Be in good standing with the University;
  2. Be a student enrolled in the College of Adult and Graduate Studies;
  3. Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0;
  4. Be a female student.

IVy Women CAGS Endowed Scholarship

Established 2022

The IVy Women of CCU is a group of women who gather together to learn, serve, give, and pray for Colorado Christian University. This scholarship was created to encourage CCU students in the College of Adult and Graduate Studies (CAGS) by helping them overcome financial challenges so they complete their degree with excellence and can confidently step boldly into their unique calling.

Criteria

To qualify as an applicant, students shall:

  1. Be in good standing with the University;
  2. Be actively enrolled in a College of Adult and Graduate Studies (CAGS) degree program;
  3. Be maintaining the CAGS program’s minimum GPA requirement;
  4. Have successfully completed a minimum of 90 credit hours (at least 30 of those being CCU/CAGS credit hours) towards a bachelor’s degree or successfully completed a minimum of 15 CAGS credit hours towards a master’s degree;
  5. Exhibit academic promise and the capacity to succeed in college by demonstrating a persistent history of active enrollment in CAGS classes.
    Preference is given to female students.

Larry J. Crabb Endowed Scholarship

Established 2019

The Larry J. Crabb Endowed Scholarship was established to honor the legacy of Dr. Larry J. Crabb at Colorado Christian University and benefit students in the Master of Arts in Counseling (MAC) program. Dr. Crabb is a well-known Christian psychologist, best-selling author, teacher, speaker, and founder of NewWay Ministries. In the 1980s, Dr. Crabb was instrumental in founding and shaping the Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling (now the Master of Arts in Counseling) program, which has grown over time into the largest graduate-level degree program in CCU's College of Adult and Graduate Studies. Dr. Crabb’s leadership put the University on the national stage and began Psychology’s trajectory in the life of the University, both as an academic discipline and through the daily activities of the CCU counseling center. On November 29, 2018, the CCU counseling center was dedicated as the Larry J. Crabb Center for University Counseling. This endowed scholarship provides a financial way for alumni, friends, and family to support CCU’s role in shaping future counselors.

Criteria

To qualify as an applicant, students shall:

  1. Be in good standing with the University;
  2. Be enrolled in the College of Adult and Graduate Studies Master of Arts in Counseling (MAC) program;
  3. Demonstrate financial need;
  4. Be recommended by the leadership of the MAC program.

Lynn Johnson ALL IN Empowering Futures Endowed Scholarship

Established 2024

State Representative Ken Summers (ret) and his wife, Debbie, established this scholarship fund in honor of Lynn Johnson in recognition of her ongoing work to improve the lives of those impacted by the foster care system.

Lynn Johnson is the Founder and President of ALL IN Empowering Futures. This non-profit agency focuses on driving national initiatives to empower communities, non-profit agencies, faith-based organizations, government, and businesses to combat the crisis of children aging out of the foster care system, adoption, poverty, and human trafficking.

Mrs. Johnson previously served as the Assistant Secretary for the Administration for Children and Families in the US Department of Health and Human Services. As Assistant Secretary, Lynn created the ALL IN for Foster Care and Adoption Challenge as a national call for every state, church, and individual to commit to being ALL IN for America’s children.

Prior to this position, Mrs. Johnson ran her own firm consulting on issues pertaining to mental health, high-risk youth, developmental disabilities, child welfare, and early childhood education. She was Chief of Staff to Lieutenant Governor Jane E. Norton and was Deputy Director for Policy as well as Policy Advisor on Human Services issues to Governor Bill Owens.

Criteria

To qualify as an applicant, students shall:

  1. Be in good standing with the University;
  2. Be enrolled in CCU’s College of Adult and Graduate Studies (CAGS) as an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a certificate or degree;
  3. Have spent any amount of time in or aged out of the foster care system;
    1. Provide the state and county where you were in foster care.
  4. Provide an essay of 500 or fewer words using the following prompt:
    1. Describe your background with the foster care system. Also, share a positive experience that has impacted your decision to further your education. How will furthering your education impact your future?
  5. Submit two letters of reference. The letters can be from personal, professional, or spiritual references and should come from someone who knows the student well and can speak about their character.
